20.12.2022: End of the NEISS project

We thank all contributors for three and a half years of great cooperation.

23/24.08.2022: Final Meeting

At the joint final meeting with the projects DIG-IT!, E-BRAIN and Digi-Care, the entire team of the NEISS project presented the results of its work.

In a 2-hour presentation block, the project coordinator Prof. Labahn first gave a general overview. Subsequently, the respective work packages presented their results. Finally, the project coordinator again gave an overview on the topic of cross-sectional goals.
In addition, an e-poster/video session provided deeper insights into various more specific topics from the NEISS environment.
In the evening of the first day, the head of the junior research group, Dr. Konrad Sperfeld, gave a short overview of the project during a short visit of the Minister of Science of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Mrs. Bettina Martin.

30.06.2022: Announcement: Final Meeting on 23/24. August 2022

On August 23 and 24, the NEISS final meeting  will be held as a joint event with the DIG-IT!, E-BRAiN and DigiCare projects. For further information see here.

28.05.2022: Continuation of NEISS project until 31.12.2022

The NEISS project has been officially extended until Dec. 31, 2022.

On 02.07.2022 Dr. Konrad Sperfeld will give a lecture on "Wie künstliche Intelligenz Texte übersetzen kann"at the Samstaguni. The lecture will take place in the large lecture hall Physics at the Institute of Physics of the University of Rostock at 11 am.

02.05.2022: Announcement: NEISS at "Tag der Mathematik" on 25.06.2022

This year, the NEISS project will again be present at "Tag der Mathematik" and will offer a quiz on the topic "How to recognize Deep Fakes". Furthermore, interested people can get information about neural networks at our booth.

04.06.2021: NEISS participates at the AI-Day of NOERD 2021

The NEISS project will participate at NOERD 2021's "KI-Day" as part of a panel discussion with project leader Prof. Roger Labahn on "Artificial Intelligence for Text and Document Analysis." (14:45-15:30)

19.05.2021: Announcement: NEISS makes a contribution at the Day of Mathematics at 11.06.2021

On 11.06. at 10 a.m., the project partners P1 and P5 will be offering an online course for schoolchildren on the topic of "How to recognize deep fakes".

Artificial intelligence is on everyone's lips today and computers can already do almost unbelievable things with such technologies. But we should all follow attentively and critically what is done in this also somehow mysterious way. For example, deceptively real-looking images can be artificially generated with the help of neural networks.

We will conduct a live quiz to see if we can distinguish between artificially generated and real images. We will also give some useful tips on how to recognize fake images. Finally, we want to discuss the dangers of such so-called "deep fakes".
